Pictures of the Great Recession

The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas has posted a very illustrative discussion of the current recession on their website, and for readers confused by the simultaneous decline in jobs and the official measure of unemployment, 20,000 fewer jobs while "unemployment" declined from 10% to 9.7%, one picture may be more informative than so many curiously defined statistics.

Ugly

The shaded area in the graph shows the upper and lower bounds of all recessions after World War II. The purple line is the current recession.

And meanwhile in Sacramento, Reno, and Seattle...

To be fair... (5.00 / 2)
the first statistic you show may be misleading due to the fact it doesn't take into account an increase in population which might lead to a larger amount of people being unemployed.

This is my last semester that has statistics in the class schedule, promise :-)

Don't be "fair" (5.00 / 1)
Don't try to be "fair". "Fair" to whom? A criminal privatized government?

I don't think your 'fairness' has any statistical logic to it.

Your statement above is the kind of thing that politicians are using all the time. It's an illogical statement and it simply confuses people. I'm not going to unravel it. Jacob Freeze can do that.

This isn't a recesson and never has been. It's an on going developing depression and it's not ending and certainly life in the U.S will never be the same. There will be no full recovery.

This is a criminal act. It is a crime perpetrated en masse and executed by a privatized government.

I'll say it again...70% of the pentagon has been privatized, Lockheed Martin a defense contractor runs the privatized social security administration.

They don't care about YOU.

The idea is to transform the workers of the United States so that they can be competitive with Indonesia. The privatized government wants to strip away all benefits that workers currently have and put them on par with workers in Indonesia.

That's what they want to do. And as long as people are allowing themselves to get "confused" ...they will suceed. Use your own eyes, your own ears, your own situation to grasp what's happening. You don't need to media.

Simple Observation will suffice.

What I said is a moot point actually.... (5.50 / 4)
it's still gonna go down WAY past the line it's at before the year is up.

My point wasn't that it's not a fucked situation, but how much of one it is now really in comparison to the fuckin nosediving into absolute misery it's eventually going to be.

Either way I still advocate a pilgrimmage to CT to evict hedge fund managers, removing the head from the bodies, and stringing them tastefully allong the tops of their gated mansions.

May we have a Merry Classwar Christmas and a Happy New Prole-fear!

The vertical axis is percent. (5.33 / 3)
More people are represented on the Purple Arc of Doom which represents the current recession.

If the vertical scale was pure numbers, it would look even worse.

Percentage (5.00 / 1)
